MIPS PROTECTS THE BRAIN AND REDUCES STRAIN (BRAIN STRAIN)

A low-friction layer that allows for a relative movement between the helmet and head of 10-15 mm, reducing rotational motion on the brain.

This provides additional protection against certain types of impacts.

 



 

 

HOW MIPS PROTECTS THE BRAIN

Historically, helmets have been designed to protect against direct impacts, primarily aimed at preventing skull fractures. However, oblique impacts are more common accidents, yet current regulatory certification standards do not encompass this type of injury risk, despite the human brain being more susceptible to rotational forces arising from oblique impacts compared to direct impacts.

Guardio helmets are designed to reduce head rotation during certain angled impacts, thereby reducing the risk of brain injury.
